Membership Rules & Rights
Admission or Refusal of a Member
The Governing Body may admit, as Member of the Society, an individual who qualifies to be a Member as per Rule 2 above.
The Governing Body of the Society shall refuse Membership of the Society to any individual who does not qualify to be a Member as per Rule 2 above and/or if the Governing Body in a majority of members present and voting, decision is of the view that admitting such individual may not be desirable for any reason(s), provided that the Governing Body records the reason(s) for such refusal.
If the membership of any individual is not approved by the Governing Body of the Society, the reason for refusal may be communicated to the individual concerned on his/her written request.
The decision of the Governing Body in admitting or refusing to admit any individual as Member of the Society shall be final and binding.
Cessation or Termination of Member-ship
A Member shall cease be a Member of the Society by his/her death, his/her written resignation addressed to the President or the General Secretary of the Society or he/she is declared of unsound mind by a competent court or he/she is declared insolvent by a competent court.
A Member shall cease be a Member of the Society if he/she fails to attend three consecutive meetings of the General Body without taking leave of absence, as the case may be, provided that if he/she applies to the Society for re-admission within a period of 3 months thereafter, the Governing Body may re-admit him/her provided that he/she is not otherwise disqualified to be admitted as a Member.
A Member shall cease be a Member of the Society if he/she fails to pay the subscription of contribution for three months, provided that if he/she applies to the Society for re-admission within a period of 3 months thereafter, the Governing Body may re-admit him/her provided that he/she is not otherwise disqualified to be admitted as a Member.
The Governing Body of the Society shall have the powers to terminate/expel from Membership of the Society, a Member, on one or more of the following grounds:
if he/she is found to be involved in any anti-social activities,
if he/she is held guilty of a criminal offence by a court of law and convicted of any offense including those involving moral turpitude and/or corrupt practices,
if he/she is involved in any activity contrary to the Aims and Objects of the Society, or such Member has worked against the aims and objects of the Society,
if he/she has committed an act, which makes it undesirable to have him/her as a Member,
if his/her Membership cease to be in the interest of the Society.
if he/she acts contrary to the Rules & Regulations of the Society, or
if he/she disobeys the decisions of the Governing Body/ General Body of the Society.
Before taking any action under Rule 5.d above, the Governing Body of the Society shall issue a written show cause notice to the concerned Member, who shall be accorded a reasonable opportunity to file a written reply and of being personally heard. The decision of the Governing Body regarding the termination/ expulsion from the Membership of the Society or otherwise, shall be communicated in writing to the Member concerned.
Every such expelled Member shall have right to appeal to the General Body of the Society which may or may not be accepted. All appeals shall be preferred to the General Body of the Society in writing within 30 days of the communication of decision of the Governing Body; the decision of the General Body shall be final. The decision of the General Body shall be communicated to the concerned Member.
In case a ceased/expelled/terminated Member is re-admitted by the General Body under Rule 5 b, c, or f, as the case may be, such Member shall have to pay all dues upto date.
Rights & Privileges of a Member
Every Member shall:
(i) have the right to participate in the General Body meeting of the Society.
(ii) have the right to vote in the General Body meeting of the Society.
(iii) be entitled to participate in the other meetings, functions, activities and get-together programmes of the Society.
Any individual who has ceased to be a Member and/or whose membership has been terminated/expelled by virtue of Rule 5 above will not be entitled to any rights of a Member, until he/she is re-admitted under Rule 5 b, c, or f, as the case may be. It is clarified that during the pendency of application or appeal, as the case may be, for readmission, under Rule 5, the rights of a member shall remain suspended.
